Blog Tour: “Guest Post and Giveaway: Ahava Is Love by Avery Duran” – Joyfully Jay

Excerpt from Joyfully Jay

“Today I am so pleased to welcome Avery Duran to Joyfully Jay. Avery has come to talk to us about her latest release, Ahava Is Love. She has also brought along a great tour wide giveaway. Please join me in giving her a big welcome!

Thank you so much to Joyfully Jay for hosting me today. My novella, Ahava is Love came out this summer, but the majority of the book takes place during Chanukah, and the themes of the holiday run through the story.

As it’s that time of the year, I thought it would be fun to celebrate with a Chanukah blog party. Since no celebration is complete without food, conversation, and gifts – I’ve spent the holiday visiting different blogs to share recipes, stories, excerpts and a great giveaway. I hope you’ll join me!

Chanukah celebrates the rededication of the holy temple by the Maccabees, a small group of Jews who defeated the Greek army. They were only able to find enough oil to fuel the temple Menorah for one day, but it miraculously lasted for eight.

The miracle of the oil is the reason that fried foods are eaten. The most well-known fried food is the potato pancake or latke. Similar to large hash browns, they are made of grated potatoes fried in oil. There are as many recipes for latkes as they are families. My family grates an onion in with the potatoes, others add carrots. Some add egg, matzo meal, or flour as a binder. All of these recipes are delicious – it’s just a matter of personal choice. ”

Blog Tour: “Celebrating Chanukah w/ Avery Duran + Giveaway” – Dreamspinner Press

Excerpt from Dreamspinner Press

Celebrating Chanukah with Avery Duran Author of Ahava is Love“Thank you so much to Dreamspinner Press for hosting me today to talk about my novella, Ahava is Love. Ahava is Love came out this summer, but the majority of the book takes place during Chanukah, and the themes of the holiday – faith, miracles, and resilience – run through the story.

I thought it would be fun to celebrate with a Chanukah blog party. Since no celebration is complete without food, conversation, and gifts, I’ll spend the rest of the holiday visiting different blogs to share recipes, stories, excerpts, and a great giveaway. Tonight is the first night of Chanukah, and I hope you’ll join me for the rest of the holiday!

In the fall of 2000, I lived and worked in Brooklyn, NY. I loved my job and was enjoying the city life, yet I felt like something was missing. I just couldn’t put my finger on what it was. In a real life plot twist, I was speaking to a friend about my need to shake up my life, on the same day she had just spoken to someone who mentioned they were interviewing for American group leaders for a 10-day trip to Israel. She suggested I apply; I took her advice, and I got the job.

On December 25th, 2000 (my 31st birthday), not knowing any of my fellow voyagers, I boarded a plane to Israel. I spent the next 10 days traveling with a group of young adults. Being in a land with such history, making new friends with diverse backgrounds, seeing members of my family who had settled there, celebrating Chanukah while in Israel, all added up to one life changing experience. For me, it was not about romance, I did not find love or a happily ever after with someone else—but I did find myself, and I came home much more comfortable in my own skin.”

Blog Tour: “Author Interview: Avery Duran” – Samantha Macleod

Excerpt from the Samantha Macleod blog

“I’m delighted to host author Avery Duran, who is joining us today for a special Chanukah blog tour with her romance Ahava is Love!

I always enjoy hearing how other authors work their magic, so read on to discover what inspired Avery, how she became a “converted plotter,” and how you can enter to win an Amazon gift card.

Pull up a chair, grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy!

Welcome to my blog, Avery! Please tell us a bit about your book, Ahava is Love.

Ahava is Love by Avery Duran, Gay Romance, finding love in IsraelWhile exploring his heritage in Israel during Chanukah, Josh, a Brooklyn Realtor meets Yaron, an Israeli security guard haunted by tragedy. The attraction is immediate, but Yaron prefers to play the field, and Josh is tired of dating players, so they decide to remain friends. They spend their days together exploring ancient sites, and their nights as roommates. Eventually, they give in to their passion, knowing that they will have to go their separate ways at the end of the trip. The more time they spend traveling, the deeper their feelings grow. But this relationship has an expiration date, and it will take a miracle to keep them together.

What inspired you to write this story?

I went on a trip similar to the one described in the book, and it was life-changing. I left home in kind of a rut and came back inspired and energized. While I didn’t fall in love, many people have met their life partners on these trips. When I heard that Dreamspinner was looking for stories from around the world, I immediately thought of my experience in Israel, and Josh and Yaron’s story just popped into my head – I HAD to tell it.”

Blog Tour: “Avery Duran shows a romantic side of Israel in Ahava Is Love” – Dale Cameron Lowry

Excerpt from Dale Cameron Lowry blog

“I’m delighted to have author Avery Duran on my blog tonight, the eighth night of Hanukkah, to talk about her newest book, Ahava Is Love.

Ahava is Love by Avery Duran, Gay Romance, finding love in IsraelAhava Is Love is a romance between an Israeli medic and an American real estate agent who is traveling in Israel to explore his heritage. The trip takes place in winter and happens to coincide with the eight days of Hanukkah.

Have you heard of Hanukkah, but never understood what it was about? It commemorates the rededication of the Jerusalem temple around 160 BCE, after a revolt against Greek rulers who had restricted Jewish religious practices. It happens every year in November or December and lasts eight days, and is marked by lighting candles with blessings each evening.”

Divine Magazine “Ahava Is Love (World Of Love) By Avery Duran”

Thank you so much to Divine Magazine for hosting me today! I really appreciate being given the chance to talk about my upcoming release, Ahava is Love.

As a child, whenever I was sick, my grandmother would come over and make me chicken soup. There was nothing like it to make me feel better. Although I’ve had other versions of the dish, none has ever come close.

My family has many other traditions that involve food, some are based on holidays and celebrations, others just because we love them!

Thank you so much to Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words for hosting me today! I really appreciate being given the chance to talk about my upcoming release, Ahava is Love.

I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of three anthologies over the past eighteen months, but this novella represents the first time I’m the sole author. While the experience is beyond exciting, it’s is also terrifying. At all stages – submission, editing, and release – you are exposing a tender part of your soul for others to judge.

This was a story I felt needed to be told…

Blog Tour: Guest Post & Giveaway Avery Duran – Ahava is Love

Thank you so much to Love Bytes for hosting me today! I am so grateful for the opportunity to talk about my upcoming release, Ahava is Love.

One of the most interesting things I learned while writing this book was that my English, is not the same as everyone else’s! I always knew American English was different from that spoken in other countries. What I was surprised to find was just how different it is within the United States.

A little background, I have lived in NYC, or one of its suburbs, my entire life and grew up with two city raised parents. The following are some terms that I (incorrectly) assumed were used the same way throughout the United States…

Timing is Everything

Thank you so much to Open Skye Book Reviews for hosting me today! I really appreciate the opportunity to talk about my upcoming release, Ahava is Love.

Time is a tricky thing; sometimes it seems like we don’t have enough of it, yet occasionally, it seems to drag. Like most of us, I’m really busy during the day. My children’s schedules, the day job, trying to maintain friendships, and volunteering for the parent association that shall not be named – all of these things take time. So when I started writing, the first thing people asked was, “When do you find the time?”
